Business Is Business

First off, it has been announced that former Oregon Head Coach, Chip Kelly, is headed to the East Coast to breathe life into a stagnant and impotent Philadelphia Eagles offense.  The Eagles offense had not performed very well as of late under terminated head coach Andy Reid.  Now that Reid is the new head coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, the Eagles coaching job seemed to be Chip Kelly's for the taking.  But when Chip returned to Eugene, Oregon and proclaimed his undying loyalty to the Ducks football program, it was then believed that Chip was back to stay at least for another year or two, but then again, business is business.

Then came the surprise news that circulated today, January 16, 2013.  Chip would officially be named the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and how could we be suprised?  As much as we've heard double talk from college coaches over the years, this was fitting and after all, business is business.

Just yesterday, January 15, 2013, Chip was in Dallas, Texas visiting prize Duck recruit, Dontre Wilson of Desoto high school.  At the time, it was believed that Kelly was excited about Dontre and what he had accomplished over his three varsity seasons at one of the greatest football factories in the state of Texas.  Little did anyone know that less than 24 hours later, he would be a NFL head coach.

Now, coaches like Urban Meyer and Mack Brown are feeling like this recruiting season has really just begun.  The mastermind behind the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes has not minced words about the fact that Dontre can be a bigger, stronger, and much faster version of former Florida star, Percy Harvin who has successfully carried his act to the NFL as a pro-bowl player.  Coach Meyer feels that Dontre has what it takes to follow-suit.

Notre Dame's hat is also in the ring for Dontre's services with the irony being that ND head coach Brian Kelly recently interviewed for the same NFL job which Chip Kelly just accepted.  If Brian had gotten the job, there would be nothing else to discuss here, but he didn't and Chip must have received an offer that he couldn't refuse.  Who could begrudge him that, after all business is business.

Dontre is still very much committed to the Oregon Ducks, mainly due to his strong bond with Oregon's RB Coach Gary Campbell.  However, he gave his word to Chip Kelly that he wouldn't take any other visits and up until now, has been a man of his word.  Chip also gave his word which has now been obviously breeched, after all, business is business.

So, Dontre will now take the time to "Smell the Roses" and take a few visits with less than 3 weeks left before signing day.  Between Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma St, and uhhhh maybe even Texas, look for the Dontre Wilson Entertainment Tour to begin very soon.  I don't blame him because after all, business is business.
